MLekka  Malgorzata Lekka is Full Professor in the Department of Biophysical Microstructures at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Science (IFJ PAN, Kraków, Poland). She studied physics at the Jagiellonian University (Kraków, Poland) that were completed in 1993. In 1993, she started to work at the IFJ PAN, where she obtained the PhD in 1998 in Physics (specialization: biophysics) with the PhD thesis focused on elasticity of cancerous cells. Her research in the field of atomic force microscopy is mainly focused on biomechanical properties of cells and tissues as indicators of various pathologies (cancer, muscular dystrophy, asthma, multiple sclerosis) and processes (drug resistance in prostate cancer). ML is involved in educational activities, including university courses of AFM technique and its applications in biology and medicine, she is a tutor of PhD students and post-doc fellows.
