D.Navajas Prof. Daniel Navajas. Daniel Navajas is Professor of Physiology (from 1989) at the Unit of Biophysics and Bioengineering of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona (UB) and Group Leader (from 2007) at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). He is also Director of Studies (from 2010) for the Degree on Biomedical Engineering at UB. His research interest is the study of the mechanical behaviour of the respiratory system with a multiscale approach, ranging from cellular nanomechanics to pulmonary pathophysiology with the goal of improving the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases. He has published more than 230 papers. His publications received over 20000 citations (WoS) with an h-index of 47 (WoS) and 60 (Google Scholar).

R.Farre Prof. Ramon Farré. Ramón Farré is Professor of Physiology at the Unit of Biophysics and Bioengineering of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona (UB), Group Leader at Institute for Biomedical Research August Pi Sunyer (IDIBAPS) and Centro Investigación Biomédica en Red de Enfermedades Respiratorias (CIBERES). He is also Associate Editor of the European Respiratory Journal. His research interest is the study of the biophysical mechanisms determining respiratory function in lung diseases and the investigation of the mechanisms involved in lung repair and regeneration using a tissue engineering and regenerative medicine approach. The approach is based on integrating basic and clinical research and in promoting transfer of the technological advances to the industry. He has published more than 250 papers (PubMed). His h-index is 43 (WoS) and 54 (Google Scholar).
